The Environmental Center of the Township of East Hanover is located at 8 Melanie Lane. It has certain scheduled times throughout the year for disposal of grass, leaves, and brush. The center is open on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Notice is provided to residents with regard to the Environmental Center and disposal regulations on a timely basis. For further information regarding disposal of residential items, please call 428-3063 between 7:00 A.M. 3:30 P.M. on weekdays only.
There are Township pick ups of bottles, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, brown paper bags, magazines, junk mail, and newspapers will be picked up every other Thursday.

1999 RECYCLING SCHEDULE
Recyclables will still be prepared in the same manner and picked up every other Thursday for all residents in the township. As a reminder, residents must set-out recyclables the night before the day of the collection. Collection will begin at 6:30 A.M. All Containers must have recycling decals.

Types of Materials Recycled and Methods of Recycling

Grass | Grass: Cut it
and leave it. Grass Facts: *Grass clippings provide natural fertilizer for a growing lawn. *You probably will only have to mow one or two extra times per month to clip the top inch off your grass. *The time saved by not bagging can amount to 30-35% of total mowing time. *Grass clippings do not cause thatch; this problem is caused by the accumulation of dead roots and stems. |

Leaves | Leaves may not be placed at the curb without being in plastic bags. | Leaves will be picked up at the curb in plastic bags through December 1999 only. The recycling center will open six days a week in November for residents to bring leaves. |
